The Seniors’ Conversation Circle had spent the last two months preparing for a theatre production about elder violence. An incident in the newspaper about financial abuse had sparked the idea. The group now had the promotional materials ready and was starting their social media campaign. Even if people couldn’t attend the show itself, the actors knew that the information would reach far into different communities. They had contacted seniors’ centres around the area to ensure that they had multilingual resources and help available if needed. One of the mainstream seniors’ organizations had set up a separate phone line for anonymous calls if newcomer seniors were too fearful to come forward in person and was planning multi-lingual elder violence prevention programming of its own.
